How You Find and Hold Onto Faith

One of life’s great mysteries is how you find your faith and once found, how you hold onto that faith.

Perhaps, someone on more than one occasion has uttered this phrase in your direction, “Don’t worry, have faith. Things will work out.”

You may have seen the timeless classic movie, The Wizard Of Oz.

As the story goes, lost in the land of Oz, young Dorothy Gale eventually realized that the grass isn’t always greener and that there was no place like home.

When Dorothy longed to be back home in Kansas, she was told all she had to do was simply tap the heels of her ruby slippers together 3 times and say, there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home.

Next thing she knew, she was back home in Kansas.

If life were only that simple.

Let’s call that Plan B.

Because, in reality, though I have come across many who employ this method, it is not the way to live the best life that God wants for you.

The point here is that while I dare not speak for the Lord Almighty, I find it hard to fathom that you were created to live this life of yours with a mindset of doing nothing, while just hoping for the best in any and all situations.

Today we seek to point you in a divine direction in giving you the answer to the question of how you find faith and hold onto it.

The Many Roads You May Travel To Find Your Faith

There is no greater guide than the Holy Bible.

Every answer to any question you will have in your life is found in the Word Of God.

God before He created us, knew we’d have some trouble finding the one road that leads to Him.

This is why He created the Bible, His Divine Life Guide specifically for us.

The Lord foretells the ways people will act and the dark roads they will lead to if we choose to behave like the others mentioned here in the scripture below.

2 Timothy 3:2-5, People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”

Here again, God clearly points out the several dark roads to avoid.

  • Self-Centered Lane
  • Greedy Boulevard
  • Arrogant Avenue
  • Prideful Parkway
  • The Pleasure Highway
  • Human Wisdom Way

They are all dead end roads, leading you nowhere.

Selfishness, Greed, Arrogance, Conceitedness, Pride, Worldly Pleasures, relying on human wisdom have nothing to do with faith.

You won’t find answers on your therapist’s couch or from the bartender at your local hangout.

Money can’t buy you the answers you’re looking for.

Answers come from God and you will find them in God’s Word.

Furthermore, without faith, you are sure to lose any money you have because you lack the faith from God to know how He wants you to put the money He has given you to good use.

There are many roads to avoid in life and yet only one road to travel that leads to you finding your faith and holding onto that faith.

Those with ears will hear and those with eyes will see, why that road is called the narrow road.

Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

What Is Real Faith

True faith is, as our Great Lord explains in Hebrews 11:1, Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Why?

Because, By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” Hebrews 11:3.

Believing in what we cannot see with our own eyes, yet we, living in Christ, feel with our hearts and know it to be true.

Knowing that Jesus Christ lives and that long ago, He walked the face of this earth.

Believing that He is the One and Only Son of Our Father God Almighty.

That He died on the Cross at Calvary, so that you could live forever.

Because you believe this to be true, You have now found your faith.

Your Faith in Christ, in God Almighty.

The next challenge you face is how to hold strong to your faith.

Be The Church Always

It is simply not enough to attend church once each week.

Furthermore, you won’t find your faith inside a man made building.

A pastor I came to know during my days in the Pacific Northwest once stated during a sermon, comparing God’s Word to food, “You won’t get by on eating one meal each week. So, how do you plan on believing and living in God’s Word one day each week?”

Moreover, the moment you walk out of the church building, you are stepping back into the realm of all things worldly.

Instantly, worldly concerns begin.

You don’t stand a chance against the barrage of worldly messages about to attack and invade your mind.

Hope exists in finding a good church home, one that extends beyond the weekend, so that you will have the support group of fellow believers in Christ.

This combined with clothing yourself in God’s Word will protect and guide you always so that your life will be a shining example to those around.

People ask, do I really need to go to church?

My humble answer is that you need to do both.

Go to church and be the church so that you will be following and honoring the two greatest commandments.

Matthew 22:36-40, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

How To Hold Onto Your Faith

Not going to try to give you some long-winded answer here.

Everything begins and end with Jesus Christ.

That’s right, everything.

Believing Jesus is who he says he is and keeping Him with you always, is the only way to hold onto your faith.

Holding onto The Word Of God, tightly, in your heart is the way to ensure you hold onto faith!

Why?

Hebrews 11:6, And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Unless we stay close to God through prayer and meditation on His Word, we’re all sunk.

Not trying to be Mister Doom and Gloom here, but that’s why the Lord gave us His Holy Word, the Bible.

Because He knew we needed His Divine Guide to Living, it in order to live with Him forever.

Which is what He created you for.

To live with Him forever?

What happens next for you has been revealed.

God’s promise for every one of us who believes in His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ.

Revelation 7:15-17, “Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water.’ And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

In closing, my prayer for you is to follow the narrow road and meditate continually on the Word Of God.

Psalm 102:18; “Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord.”
