5 Things You Must Do To Live Forever

It’s not a secret that all people want to live forever. But what if you could actually do it?

What steps would you need to take in order to achieve immortality? That is the question we will be answering today.

Living forever may seem like something only possible in fairy tales and Disney movies, but there are some things you can do to make this your reality.

In this blog message, I will outline 5 things you must do to live forever, to achieve immortality!

Humility Opens the Door to Live Forever

Regardless of whether you have a strong knowledge of the Holy Bible, it is possible you have heard the phrase, “The Prodigal Son.”

That phrase comes directly from God’s Word in the Book of Luke Chapter 15, verses 11 through 32.  This is a story about a father and his two sons, one older and one younger.

We turn to God to tell us what we must do to live forever.

Luke 15:11-16, And he said, “There was a man who had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them.

Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need.

So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.”

God showing us the example that the grass is not always greener as the younger son found out.

Luke 15:17-21, But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger!  I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.

I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.’ And he arose and came to his father.

But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.

And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.”

Humility is the first thing you must learn and do in order to live forever.

Through his difficult circumstances the young son had quickly come to appreciate all that he had lost because of his bad decisions.

Luke 15:22-24, But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.”

Remember that satan has a way of coming at you or those closest to you in the form of a green-eyed monster.

Luke 15:25-32, “Now his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. And he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and sound.’

But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him,  but he answered his father, ‘Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.  But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’

And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.  It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.”

The young son came to know humility and gratefulness firsthand.

He knew that the first step to live forever was for him to humbly acknowledge God in everything.

  • Ask God to remove from you any prideful thought or thing and repent and ask His forgiveness.
  • Thank Him everyday for all that He has given you.
  • Judge not for you will be judged.
  • Boast not because everything you have is because of God Almighty.
  • Forgive anyone who has sinned against you.

Matthew 6:14-15, “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

Learn humility, and live by it and God Almighty will open doors you have never dreamed of!

How to Live Forever: Lessons from the Selfless Servant

This Selfless Servant was one who even at a young age was wise beyond his years. In fact, he was bestowed with so much wisdom, many who were older than he wondered how a young boy could know so many things.

In addition to his wisdom, the boy was known to be kind, always had a smile and a good word for everyone he met.

He was a polite young man, respectful of all, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. He had an amazing way of knowing exactly knowing what to say and how to care for and heal anyone in need.

Years passed by and the boy grew to become a young man. Nothing changed about him except for his age and appearance. He continued to help anyone in need, had a kind word and a smile for those he met, and his purpose was clear in that he lived to serve others. He rarely spoke about himself, and he never boasted.

He counseled people on many things. How to live a meaningful life, how to be genuinely happy and how to be calm and at ease always. He showed people the way for them to have an abundance of riches in their life. He loved mankind, and he always looked to serve and put others before himself. Everything he said and everything he did was good.

Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

The second thing you must do to live forever is to be selfless.

The definition of selfless is being more concerned with the needs of others than with your own needs.

When you love, show kindness, goodness and joy toward others you are then truly free of any chains this world could shackle upon you!

Moreover, Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior teaches us about the Second Greatest Commandment.

Matthew 22:39, Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Put self in the rearview mirror because our Father in Heaven created us all out of love and we are to love one another.

1 John 4:19, “We love because he first loved us.”

To Live Forever You Must Forsake This World

We turn to The Bible once again to share the Parable of the Great Banquet.

Luke 14:15-23, When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.”

Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’

“But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’

“Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’

“Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’

“The servant came back and reported this to his master.

Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’

Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’

“Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.  I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.”

They were invited to the banquet of banquets. Given the opportunity to live forever and they of their own free will, chose to decline God’s gracious offer of salvation!

When your invitation to live forever comes from Jesus Christ, answer the call.

Have you ever noticed as you become older the years seems to fly by faster?

Whether you are young in age or in your 50s or 60s, you may find yourself having new outlooks on life and the things around you as the years pass by because you have grown and come to appreciate life and those new things.

Your interests may even change.

As you grow older your tastes and your tolerances for the world around you shift.

I am in my 50s now and much of what I hear in the world is simply noise to me.

Moreover, I consider what is said in the media, on the news and on the television as noise, because it has nothing to do with humility and loving others as I would myself.

I recall the old days when my days were consumed with modern day idols.

They became idols because I put a high priority on them and they consumed my days.

These things pulled me away from God Almighty and His invitation to me to live forever.

I learned that there is nothing worth having or doing, to have that happen!

Forsake the world and worldly things before they overtake and consume you, your time here on earth and destroy your eternity.

To Believe Is To Live Forever

Believe in Jesus Christ and what He did for all of mankind.

Perhaps the greatest piece of scripture God has ever given to us was John 3:16.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Every soul, all of creation has been given the same opportunity.

It matters not if you are financially rich or poor.

We have all been given the opportunity to come to know God Almighty and His Precious Lamb, His One and Only Son Jesus Christ.

When you know Christ you can be sure you will live forever.

John 10:27-28, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

When you come to realize that nothing matters without Christ, you will Believe in Him and what He did for all of us.

Moreover, you will know humility, love, compassion for others.

All that matters is Christ.

We were created by Him and for Him.

He is the Bridegroom and we are His Bride.

Christ the King, spoke more about this in His Parable of the Ten Virgins.

Matthew 25:1-10,

“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.  Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.

For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.

As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps.

And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’

And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.”

If today were the day Jesus came back, would your lamp have oil in it? Would you be ready to live forever?

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you cannot live forever.

To Live Forever You Must Have Wisdom and Understanding

God spoke through King Solomon in writing many verses of scriptures found in the Book of Proverbs in the Holy Bible.

Solomon succeeded his father King David on the throne to shepherd all of Israel.

He knew success would not be possible without God.

God asked him the question of all questions and here was Solomon’s answer.

1 Kings 3:5-14, At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and God said, “Ask what I shall give you.”

And Solomon said, “You have shown great and steadfast love to your servant David my father, because he walked before you in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart toward you. And you have kept for him this great and steadfast love and have given him a son to sit on his throne this day. And now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of David my father, although I am but a little child. I do not know how to go out or come in.  And your servant is in the midst of your people whom you have chosen, a great people, too many to be numbered or counted for multitude.

Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?”

It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this. And God said to him, “Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches or the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right, behold, I now do according to your word.

Behold, I give you a wise and discerning mind, so that none like you has been before you and none like you shall arise after you.  I give you also what you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that no other king shall compare with you, all your days.

And if you will walk in my ways, keeping my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.”

God made Solomon the wisest and richest man on the face of the earth and it was during this time that through God, Solomon penned many of the Proverbs found in the Holy Bible.

To be wise like Solomon and to have eternal riches you must understand this.

Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

To live forever you must have the fear of the Lord.

When you fear the Lord, wisdom will live in you and you will come to understand your God given life purpose.

You will grow closer to God and move further and further away from the ways of this world.

Moreover, you will live like a citizen of God’s Kingdom during your days here on earth as He will prepare you for the day when He will call you home.

When you love Him and fear Him, He will unlock for you many secrets of this life and the next!

You and I are like a passing breeze, our days fly by, our time is brief on this earth.

When you come to know Jesus Christ, you come to know Father God Almighty.

You are a child of God because you believe in His One and Only Son.

Loved you are by God Almighty, no greater love exists.

You are worth more than you could ever imagine to God.

If this were not so, why would He have sacrificed His Only and Only Son so that you could live forever!

Psalm 102:18; “Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord.”
